Ingredients
Ham & Cheese Waffles
2cupsBisquick baking mix
1cupcheddar cheeseshredded
1cuphamdiced into bite sized pieces
1tspsmoked Spanish paprika
2tbspvegetable oil
1egg
1 ½cupsmilk
Maple Sriracha Syrup
½cupmaple syrup
1tbspsriracha chili sauce
1tbspbutter
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine Bisquick baking mix with paprika, ham, and cheese. Toss to mix the paprika into the mix and coat the ham and cheese with the flour. This will help evenly disperse the ham and cheese within the batter. Then add the oil, egg, and milk. Whisk together until the batter is well combined.
Set your waffle iron to high and spray with non-stick spray. Fill the waffle iron with batter according to your waffle iron's capacity. I always find that this is trial and error and my first waffle is either slightly small or drips out of the waffle iron. No biggie. The waffle will still taste great. Cook until the waffle is cooked through and golden brown which will likely be about 5 minutes depending on your waffle iron.
While your waffles are cooking, heat maple syrup over medium heat in a small sauce pan. Add the sriracha and butter. Simmer until the butter has melted. Stir. Remove from heat and set aside. You can also do this in a small microwave proof bowl or jar. Just add all the ingredients and cook in 30 second increments until the butter is melted. Stir to combine everything. I like to do this in a mason jar and then it's easy to store leftovers in the fridge.
Serve your waffles with the warm maple sriracha syrup. I like to top with a sunny-side up egg.
Notes
I like to use leftover spiral sliced ham for this recipe, but any ham, including deli ham, will do the trick!
If you don't have Bisquick, use your favorite waffle recipe. Just mix the ham, cheese, and paprika into the dry ingredients before adding the wet.
